Favouritism

It's impossible to treat everyone as your favourite. That's just being nice to everyone. Means you're nothing special, just another statistic to who the person was nice to today. Though there isn't anything wrong with that, conflicts will and do arise. Wrath, Greed, Envy, Sloth, Lust, Gluttony and Pride. The 7 sins will inevitably play a part in instigating these conflicts. And in a war between two nations, who has even heard of a third party nation aiding both sides? Needlessly dragging on the war, the situation can only get worse and worse. A side must be chosen whether it be right or wrong. To be in the middle ground is the most cowardly action to take.

To obtain something, you must first lose something. You cannot befriend a person and expect their rival to become your friend as well. Because you will eventually become the tool to bring the other side to their knees. Who will you betray? But the most important piece of information is definitely who will know about your betrayal. Information is power. It always has and will always be.

That's why being finding out you're being backstabbed is considered pretty much unforgivable. Betrayal. Treason. What are you willing to put on the line to obtain as much information as you can? Money? Pride? Your own personality in exchange for a collection of masks? I hate playing favourites. I don't doubt that I do have some, but I try to keep it low profile. Expectations which may not be met at times from both parties, secrets exposed from one end to the other, Trust isn't something to give away so freely.

People who often trust others are probably targeted by swindlers and manipulators. Once the damage has been done, I don't think they'll trust people that easily again. I don't mean to instill suspicion into everyone, but this is just how I feel about things.

I've come to stray off topic for heaps of posts. Not that it bothers me too much.
